Successful Drug Awareness Campaign Held by FEF in Plateau State

The Frugal Empowerment Foundation (FEF) successfully held a one-day seminar on May 24th, 2024, focused on addressing the critical issue of drug abuse among teenagers, youths, and adults. The seminar, which took place in Jos, was graced by notable speakers including Mr. Isaia Gyang, Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Government on Media, and Nr. Jinji Joseph Jinji, a respected pharmacist and Nurse. Representatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) were also present, adding significant weight to the event.

The seminar aimed to provide practical approaches for law enforcement professionals and educators to combat drug abuse. It also emphasized the crucial roles that families and the media play in curbing drug misuse within society. During his speech, Mr. Gyang highlighted the importance of community collaboration in addressing this pervasive issue. “We have received numerous requests for assistance in developing programs to help our youth resist the pressures of drug use. This seminar is our response to those calls,” he stated.

Jinji Joseph Jinji, in his presentation, underscored the health risks associated with drug abuse and the importance of preventive education. He provided detailed insights into how various drugs affect the body and mind, urging students to abstain from all forms of hard drugs. Representatives from the NDLEA further elaborated on the legal implications of drug abuse and the agency’s efforts in enforcing drug laws and supporting rehabilitation.

The participants, primarily students, were deeply engaged throughout the seminar. They were sensitized on the devastating effects of drug abuse and the importance of making informed choices. The interactive sessions allowed students to ask questions and share their thoughts, making the event highly impactful.

The success of this campaign highlights FEF’s commitment to fostering a drug-free society through education and community involvement. The Foundation continues to solicit support and collaboration from various stakeholders to sustain and expand such initiatives.

This initiative is meticulously crafted with the goal of equipping these resilient individuals with valuable skills in the production of liquid soap, disinfectants, and petroleum jelly.

At its core, this training program represents more than just a skill-building exercise; it is a holistic approach to uplift widows, providing them with tangible tools to create sustainable livelihoods.
