Hanatu is a small business owner
SBE 2024 Beneficiary Frugal Empowerment Foundation
In a modest corner of her community, the aroma of home-cooked meals draws people toward Hanatu’s food stand. With pots of rice, beans, soup, and local delicacies, Hanatu serves hot, affordable meals to neighbors and passersby”using her skills not just to feed others, but to feed her family too.
In 2024, Hanatu was chosen as a beneficiary of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project, receiving much-needed financial support to grow her small cooked food business. With the funds, she was able to buy more ingredients, improve her setup, and serve more customers.
I thank FEF for supporting my food business, Hanatu says. The help came at the right time. I was able to cook more and sell more, but I still face challenges food prices are rising fast, and I don’t always have enough capital to keep up with demand.
Hanatu’s story is one of resilience and hard work. She’s not just running a food business she’s building a path to stability, one plate at a time. But she needs ongoing support to keep going and to grow.
When you support women like Hanatu, you’re investing in more than a business”you’re investing in dignity, survival, and opportunity. Together, we can turn small beginnings into lasting impact.
