Tabitha Jiba

Tabitha is a petty trader, she sells roasted corn

SBE 2024 Beneficiary Frugal Empowerment Foundation

On a busy roadside, with the comforting scent of charred husks and hot coals filling the air, Tabitha tends to her small roasting stand. A familiar face in her neighborhood, she sells roasted corn a simple but beloved seasonal snack that helps her earn a living and care for her family.

In 2024, Tabitha was selected as a beneficiary of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project, receiving vital financial support to grow her business. With the funds, she was able to buy more corn, charcoal, and set up a better roasting spot to serve more customers.

I really appreciate what FEF has done for me, Tabitha says. It helped me restock and improve my setup. But corn prices go up quickly, and sometimes I can’t afford enough to meet demand. I still need more support to grow my business.

Tabitha’s story is one of resilience, determination, and hope. Like many small-scale traders across Nigeria, she’s doing her best with what she has ”but limited capital continues to hold her back from true stability.

With your support, women like Tabitha can turn their small hustle into a sustainable livelihood. Let’s continue to invest in these everyday heroes because empowering one woman uplifts an entire community.
