SBE 2024 Beneficiary“ Frugal Empowerment Foundation
Chief Palace, Karmo Sabo, Abuja
In the vibrant but challenging streets of Karmo Sabo, near the Chief Palace, Odey Janet makes a living selling seasonal fruits. From mangoes to oranges and bananas, Janet’s small wooden table displays more than just produce”it represents her determination to support her family through honest, daily effort.
Janet’s business depends heavily on the seasons and the availability of fresh fruit, which makes it hard to maintain steady income. On top of that, she faces daily struggles such as high transportation costs, unstable prices, and the pressure of caring for her children. Every day is a balancing act between survival and hope.
In 2024, Janet was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project. With the financial support she received, she was able to buy a larger quantity of fruits during peak season, attract more customers, and increase her profits, even if just for a short time.
I really thank FEF for remembering small traders like me, Janet says. The money helped, but it’s not easy. I still need more support to grow and keep my business going.
Janet’s story is a powerful reminder: women across Nigeria are working hard every day to build better lives, but many are limited by a lack of resources. The SBE grant gave Janet a spark”now she needs the opportunity to turn that spark into lasting growth.
With your support, we can empower more women like Janet to rise above their challenges and build sustainable businesses for a brighter future.
