Alice Olaniyi

In the busy area of Power Line, known locally as Pinky and Brain in Duset, Abuja, Alice Olaniyi runs a modest shoe business. Her stall, lined with slippers, sandals, and second-hand shoes, is more than just a shop her means of survival and a testament to her resilience.

Every day, Alice faces the pressures of slow sales, increasing prices from suppliers, and the challenge of keeping her business stocked with items her customers can afford. As a small-scale trader, the margins are thin, and supporting her household through the shoe business has not been easy.

In 2024, Alice was selected as a beneficiary of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project. With the grant she received, she was able to add new stock and attract more foot traffic to her stall. The boost helped her increase sales and gave her renewed confidence in her business.

I’m really grateful to FEF, Alice says.Their help came at the right time. It helped my business a bit, but things are still tough. I need more support to really stand strong.

Alice story is not unique across Nigeria, women like her have the vision and determination to succeed, but often lack the financial resources to expand and sustain their ventures. The SBE grant lit a spark for Alice. Now, she needs continued support to turn it into lasting growth.

Together, we can help hardworking women like Alice build stronger, more stable future one step at a time.
