SBE 2024 Beneficiary Frugal Empowerment Foundation
Dakwa Dede, Abuja
In Dakwa Dede, a resilient community on the outskirts of Abuja, Bello Maryann works tirelessly to provide for her family through the sale of charcoal. Her daily hustle”carrying heavy loads, managing fluctuating prices, and facing unpredictable market conditions”reflects the struggles of many small-scale traders trying to survive in today’s economy.
For Maryann, charcoal isn’t just a business”it’s her lifeline. Every sale helps cover basic needs for her children and keeps her hopes alive, despite the challenges of inflation and rising costs of restocking. Like many others, she has faced times when keeping her business afloat seemed nearly impossible.
That’s why being selected as a 2024 beneficiary of the Frugal Empowerment Foundations Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project marked a turning point. With the support she received, Maryann was able to increase her charcoal supply and attract more customers in her area. The extra income made a real difference, even if only temporarily.
I’m thankful to FEF for their support, Maryann shares. It helped me grow my business, but things are still difficult. I need more help to be stable and move forward.
Her story speaks for thousands of hardworking women who have the drive and determination to succeed, but not the resources. The SBE initiative gave Maryann a start”but to truly thrive, she and others like her need consistent support.
Let’s keep the momentum going. With your help, we can turn small efforts into sustainable change”for Maryann, and for many more.
