Dorathy is a petty trader whose strength lies in her unwavering commitment to provide for her family, no matter the odds. From early morning until dusk, she manages her small stall with limited resources, selling everyday goods just to make ends meet. Like many others, she faces the daily weight of rising prices, low customer turnout, and the struggle to restock her items.
In 2024, Dorathy was selected as a beneficiary of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project. With the financial support she received, she was able to expand her stock slightly, bringing more variety to her stall and increasing her sales.
I appreciate the help from FEF, she says. It came at the right time. Things are still difficult, but this support gave me something to build on. I just need more help to keep moving forward.
Dorathy’s story is not unique but it is urgent. She represents countless petty traders who have the will to succeed but lack the resources to grow. The SBE project gave her a critical boost, but real change takes ongoing support.
