Mabel is a trader

SBE 2024 Beneficiary Frugal Empowerment Foundation

In the heart of her community, surrounded by the hustle and bustle of everyday life, Mabel stands behind her small trading table with quiet determination. As a petty trader, she sells basic items like pepper, sachet seasonings, small foodstuffs, and daily-use goods”just enough to meet the needs of her customers and care for her family.

In 2024, Mabel was selected as a beneficiary of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project, receiving a small but meaningful financial boost to support and expand her business. With the help, she was able to restock her goods and increase her income if only for a time.

I’m really grateful to FEF for the support,Mabel says. It helped me restock and attract more buyers. But things are still tough prices keep rising, and I don’t always have enough capital to buy what I need. I still need more help to grow.

Mabel’s story is the reality of thousands of petty traders across Nigeria”resourceful and hardworking, yet limited by lack of consistent funding and support. With just a little more help, Mabel can stabilize her trade, support her family with confidence, and build a brighter future.

By supporting women like Mabel, we’re not just helping small businesses ”we’re fueling resilience, dignity, and long-term impact. Together, we can empower women to rise.
