Joy is a farmer
Profile: Joy Godswill
SBE 2024 Beneficiary – Frugal Empowerment Foundation
Tasha 2, Gwagwa, FCT Abuja
Meet Joy Godswill, a resilient farmer in Tasha 2, opposite the 7 Days Adventist Church, Gwagwa, FCT. Every morning, Joy rises with the sun to tend to her small farm, growing vegetables and seasonal crops that she sells in the local market. Despite her dedication, Joy has faced enormous obstacles—rising costs of farming inputs, lack of storage facilities, and unpredictable weather patterns—all of which threaten her livelihood.
In 2024, Joy received support through the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project, a vital boost that enabled her to purchase seeds and tools for her farm. Though thankful, Joy describes the support as “a drop in the ocean” compared to the deep challenges she continues to face. Her farm needs fencing, irrigation support, and access to better markets—essentials she cannot afford alone.
“The SBE support came at the right time. It gave me hope. But I still need help to really grow and feed my family without fear,” Joy says with quiet determination.
Her story is a mirror of thousands of women across Nigeria—hardworking, skilled, and full of potential, yet held back by lack of resources. With your support, we can turn Joy’s small farm into a thriving business and her hope into a sustainable future.
