Rachael is a small business owner, she sells okpa

SBE 2024 Beneficiary “ Frugal Empowerment Foundation

Rachael is a small business owner who sells okpa, a popular local snack. Every morning, she wakes up early to prepare and sell it, hoping to make enough to care for her children and meet daily needs. Her small business is her only source of income, and she works tirelessly to keep it going.

But life is not easy. The cost of ingredients like beans, oil, and wrappers keeps rising. Some days she sells well, other days it’s slow”but Rachael keeps pushing forward.

In 2024, Rachael was chosen as one of the beneficiaries of the Frugal Empowerment Foundation’s Small Business Empowerment (SBE) Project. With the support she received, she was able to buy more ingredients and make more okpa, which helped increase her sales and bring in more profit.

I thank FEF for the help. It really made a difference, but business is still hard. I still need more support to grow, Rachael says.

Rachael’s story is just one of many. So many hardworking women like her are doing their best with very little. With more support, we can help them build stronger, lasting businesses and brighter futures.
